Many weeks of preparation had gone into choreographing a big sword fight for this scene, but Harrison had dysentery when it came time to shoot. He asked Spielberg, in an effort to get done sooner and not have to stress himself too much, and this is an actual quote, “Why don’t I just shoot the fucker?” So that’s what happened instead.
